Lateral bursae are rounded, sac-shaped or elongate vesicles which communicate ventrally with the exterior. In bdellourid triclads there is always one lateral bursa on either side of the copulatory apparatus. Through their connections with the female reproductive system the lateral bursae receive the excess sperm for resorption.

Alternative form for lateral bursa : lateral bursae.
